A look back, a look ahead

Be the change you want to see in the world. - Mahatma Gandhi

Or in our case, Be the change you want to Eat in the world. Main Squeeze is entering our 10th year of feeding Columbians delicious foods that celebrate local farms, a healthy planet and a healthy you! Thanks to each of you for not only enjoying our food and drink, but supporting our commitment to all things GOOD.

In 2006 Main Squeeze:

  • Made good food even better by increasing (by more than $10,000) the number of organic and local foods on our menu, including tasty feta cheese from Goatsbeard Farm, whole grain breads from Annie's Breads in Ashland, farm fresh eggs from Share Life Farm and crsip heirloom apples from Blue Heron Orchard.
  • Made a good community even better by raising money for community radio station, KOPN, 89.5, Columbia Second Chance, Central MO Humane Society, the Missouri Theatre Center for the Arts and KBIA 91.3. Owner Leigh Lockhart continues to volunteer her time as Chairperson of COLORS, Columbia Locally Owned Retail and Services, board member of the Special Business District and radio DJ on KOPN.
  • Promoted and sold good art by providing a venue for more than 20 artists to exhibit and sell their work in our cafe; 100% of art sales (more than $2000 in 2006!) going directly to the artist. We also produced and sponsored for the 4th year, the Beaux Arts Bizarre, raising money for the renovation of the Historic Missouri Theatre and promoting the arts and crafts of more than 50 local artists.
  • Continued to make choices that promote a good planet, including composting more than TEN TONS of food waste, recycling every cardboard box, bottle, can and newspaper that came thru our door, purchasing compostable To Go packaging and introducing our Holy Grail, the Tiffin, a reusable stainless steel To Go pail. Check it out on our website www.main-squeeze.com.
And that's LAST YEAR. Now for 2007...

  • Main Squeeze is happy to now offer a complete catering menu featuring delicious and beautiful platters of healthy foods. Pick up a copy of our Catering and Bulk Foods Menu at Main Squeeze or check it out on our website www.main-squeeze.com.
